The exhibition routes of Cinecittà Si Mostra| Shows Off take place inside the Palazzina Presidenziale and the Palazzina Fellini.

Shooting in Cinecittà

Your journey begins in the Palazzina Presidenziale with “Shooting in Cinecittà”, where history comes to life through a selection of images, videos and original costumes worn by iconic figures from both the Italian and international cinematic sphere, such as Kasia Smutniak, Eva Green, Margherita Buy, Lily James, and Willem Dafoe. Immerse yourself in the rubble of Rome to learn more about its bombing and how this moment in history has been captured in the cinema of Neorealism. You can also explore other meticulously recreated sets, such as tributes to Roman Holiday and Ben-Hur, in a section purely dedicated to the “Hollywood on the Tiber” era. In the Sala della Commedia, pay homage to legendary filmmakers Pasolini and Sergio Leone, as their cinematic legacies unfold before your eyes.

Backstage – An Educational Route Through Cinecittà

From here, venture into “Backstage – An Educational Route Through Cinecittà”, where you will discover six immersive rooms dedicated to various cinema trades, from film direction to visual effects, and everything in between. In the Director’s Room, step into the shoes of prominent directors like Martin Scorsese and uncover the creative process behind their cinematic visions, with a first-hand look at their books and other personal items. Dive into the art of storytelling in the Script Room, where screenplays and storyboards reveal the magic of transposing words into moving pictures. From here, the next stop is the Sound Room, where you can learn interesting facts about the historical evolution of sound in film and actively interact with the dubbing process. In the Costume Room, unleash your inner costume designer as you learn how to reconstruct costumes based on famous movies. Felliniana – Ferretti Dreams Fellini

At “Felliniana – Ferretti Dreams Fellini”, the last and newest exhibition route located in the Palazzina Fellini, step into the fantastical realm of Federico Fellini's imagination, courtesy of Academy Award®-winning production designer Dante Ferretti's awe-inspiring exhibition-installation. Spread across three main rooms, wander through a whimsical landscape reminiscent of Fellini's iconic films, from the bustling streets of City of Women to the nostalgic allure of the Fulgor Cinema, a symbolic place in Fellini’s childhood and journey as a filmmaker.

Extend your Cinecittà experience with a visit to the Italian Museum of Moving Images , where interactive installations and cinematic exhibits await. Explore themes ranging from Italy's cinematic heritage to the transformative power of music as you journey through each themed room, all housed within the historic confines of the former Laboratory of Print and Development, Mechanical Laboratory and Film Store.

You might be thinking… Where is Cinecittà Studios? And how can I book my visit?

Cinecittà Studios is located in Rome, a 30-minute taxi ride from Fiumicino Airport, and also easily reached from central Rome by getting off at the 'Cinecittà' stop on metro line A. Booking your ticket to Cinecittà Studios in advance not only guarantees your spot, but also allows for seamless planning. Simply visit Cinecittà Shows Off to reserve your ticket online; admission is free if you fall into one of the specific categories stated on the website, and there are also reduced rates for the young and the elderly, as well as special discounts for families and groups. You can also choose a ticket based on which parts of Cinecittà Studios you would like to visit: for more information on combined tickets and anything else related to your visit, you should email visit@cinecitta.it. “Cinecittà si Mostra” and Italian Museum of the Moving Images are open every day except Tuesday from 10am to 6pm. The on-site ticket office closes at 4.30pm. The set of Ancient Rome can only be visited with an official guide at certain times of the year. In case of updates to timetables, prices, and openings and closures of any of the exhibitions, you should always refer to the official website before planning your visit.
