The Musical Director of the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Antonio Pappano, and Luigi Piovano, the Orchestra’s first cello, performed an exceptional concert in one of the airport’s most symbolic locations. Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport has been authorised by ENAC, in turn authorised by the ASL, to reopen following the confirmation of fully normal air quality ascertained by yesterday’s CNR surveys, after the outbreak of a fire involving bags and cartons in a warehouse managed by an external company. The source of the fire was identified and extinguished in under one minute at 7.30 am yesterday.

ADR has filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office against persons unknown for arson and any other identifiable specific crimes, following the fire that took place this morning at Ciampino Airport. It has been discovered that the premises the fire originated from was managed by the external company Ecofast. The airport’s electrical system is intact, meaning that it cannot have been the cause of the fire, which was put out in under a minute thanks to perfectly functioning alarm systems that allowed fire-fighters to take immediate action. The airport operator is therefore the injured party in the event.

Due to smoke coming from an air gap in the underground area beneath the Schengen Area, the Ciampino Terminal was evacuated as a precaution around 08:00 this morning. No passengers or infrastructure were affected. ADR staff are assisting passengers waiting for the terminal to return to normal operations.
